UEFA has stopped the away goals rule in the Champions League, Europa League and Europa Conference League.
The away goals rule has been an integral part of European football for decades. So it is a massive move to get rid of the rule.
The away goals rule came into play when two teams had scored the same number of goals over the two leg ties.
When two teams were level over the two legs, the team who had scored the most away goals went through.
This rule affected Scottish teams many times.
Such as in the 1985-86 European Cup when Aberdeen drew 2-2 at home against IFK Goteborg, and 0-0 away from home. This meant IFK went through to the semi-final on the away goals rule, as they had scored more goals away from home.
I hope the Scottish sides get far in Europe this season.
