League Points Awarded For Intermediate Stages For Achievements in Games And Seasons.
In cycling,
in the Tour de France, there are two secondary awards called the Green Jersey
for sprinting, and the Polka Dot Jersey for the Mountain classification.
In this
points are awarded for stage wins, and for intermediate parts of the stage.
I was
thinking could this also be done in other sports.
Season Based
Positions.
For instance
in football could there be trophies awarded for leading the league table at
certain points in the season. For instance in a 36 game league season. An award
could be given to the team who had the most points after each team had played
18 games.
This could even
be a halfway point title.
Or perhaps a points bonus for any team top of the table at the half-way stage?
There could also be a half-time league table with teams awarded a trophy for
being the teams with the most leads at half-time.
Match
Intermediate Point Bonuses.
Equally this
could be taken into individual matches.
The team
leading at half-time could be given a bonus point in the league regardless of if
they win, draw, or lose the whole game.
There could be a bonus points in the league awarded for goals in injury time, if it changes who is winning or drawing. If a team scores two goals in injury time they could get an extra bonus point, if it changes who is winning, drawing, or losing. This could encourage fans to stay for the entire match. And lead to exciting injury times.
In cricket, teams could be awarded bonus points in the league for bowling a maiden, or
scoring individual player hundreds.
In American
football teams could be awarded bonus points in the Conference for scoring the
most touchdowns that week.
In football leagues the teams that scores the most goals in a week could get a bonus point.
In basketball
teams could be awarded bonus points for the highest match points score of the
week, in their division, even if they lost. And teams could be awarded points
for the most points in a quarter.

This list of ideas could be when relevant in football, baseball, basketball, field hockey, Gaelic games, ice hockey, American football, shinty, Aussie Rules, handball, volleyball, netball, rugby union, rugby league, and cricket.
