I often wonder who would be the strongest regions at producing top players for Scotland at football.
If you got all the regions of Scotland, and played a national tournament of all the qualified players. Such as West Central Scotland, North East Scotland, the Highlands, the Borders, Fife, Edinburgh.
I mean using international players too, from all the top clubs like Aberdeen, Celtic, Rangers, Hibs, Dundee United, Hearts and all the other clubs.
I think it would probably be Central Scotland winning due to the quality of the players, and population,
The Glasgow region and surrounding area has the strongest record of producing Scotland players.
But if you went to smaller regions such as the Scottish counties who would win then?
It would be difficult to organise, such a tournament, as players would not be released by their club sides for such a trophy,
But it could be done on computer simulations. To test which Scottish county is strongest at producing Scottish players,
This would be of modern day players still playing.
But it would be interesting to try in historical terms too.
The best player Glasgow has produced is probably Kenny Dalglish,
The best player the region of Aberdeen have produced in Denis Law.
But most good Scottish players have probably been produced in the Central Belt due to population and the football culture,
This could be done at male and female soccer, -
