Artificial Pitches In Scottish Football.
I know many teams have artificial pitches in Scottish football.
Apparently professional footballers are often against artificial pitches.
They often feel the quality of the game is worse, with the bounce of the football being different. Also players tend to want well maintained grass pitches that you can pass the ball on.
I have played football on various types of pitch. I have played football on concrete, grass, artificial turf, plastic, and leisure centre sports floors.
Probably the material I have most played on is concrete, from school days at break.
The next most common is probably at leisure centres.
So I was never up to speed on what material is best to play on.
Football players often want to play on a well-maintained grass pitch.
The problem is for some clubs it is financially viable to play the games on artificial pitches,
They can use the pitches for different things, and keep the pitch is higher quality.
Some claim every artificial pitch is different.
Some claim artificial pitches can give players more injuries.
You would think that by now artificial pitches would be safer and more high quality than grass pitches. After all scientists have had a long time to develop better materials. But many managers and players would disagree at this stage.
Teams like Kilmarnock, Stirling Albion, and Hamilton have had artificial pitches. -
