We need part time, and full time and B teams in the Scottish Soccer League.
We Need More Teams In The Scottish Soccer League.
A famous figure in Scottish football has said that half the clubs in the SPFL are not professional and are not doing enough for Scottish football. He claimed that they did not produce good players, and that they were not good enough to be called professional.
I think this is not true.
We need as many clubs in Scottish football as possible.
It is often the case you meet Scottish people who say we should cut the number of clubs in the Scottish League.
I think that is not a good idea.
We need as many clubs in Scotland as possible.
The more clubs, we have the more chance we have of developing international players, and good managers.
It is not true to say the smaller clubs have not done anything for the game.
They give teams for the other sides to play. They open up large communities to the Scottish League, rather than watching someone else’s league.
One of the great things about Scottish football is how many teams there are.
It makes Scottish football more interesting to have loads of football teams.
My view is we should have the big football clubs having B Teams in the lower leagues. In the Netherlands, Belgium, Portugal, Spain, Germany, France and Croatia, the big sides have B teams playing in the lower divisions. So that young players can get early competitive experience.
If we do that we will need teams in the lower divisions for those B teams to play against. So having tough part time sides for them to play would be good. It gives them real experience of tough players, and real games.
The lower leagues are a great development ground for young managers. And many managers started their careers in the lower leagues.
Alex Ferguson started managing at East Stirlingshire.
Craig Levein started managing at Cowdenbeath.
Alex Totten started managing at Alloa Athletic,
Jack Ross the manager of Hibs, started at Alloa Atheltic.
Craig Brown the former Scotland manager had a spell as boss of Clyde.
Jock Stein started his playing career at Albion Rovers.
Billy Reid started managing at Clyde FC.
Paul Hegary started at Forfar Athletic.
Jock Wallace started managing at Berwick Rangers, Jim Jeffries also had s spell at Berwick Rangers, before he became Hearts boss
Billy Stark managed at Queen’s Park.
Of the current international generation squad many Scottish players have developed a part of their career in the lower leagues,
Most Importantly.
Andy Robertson – Played for Queen’s Park for a season, before he was spotted by Dundee United.
Other players to have developed in the lower leagues include;
Michael Devlin played on loan for Stenhousemuir.
Ryan Porteous played on loan at Edinburgh City.
Kenny McLean played for Arbroath on loan.
Eamonn Brophy played on loan at Dumbarton, and Queen’s Park.
Scott Bain played on loan at Elgin and played for Alloa,
Stuart Findlay played for Dumbarton.
Robert Snodgrass played on loan for Stirling Albion.
Lawrence Shankland played for Queen’s Park.
Johnny Russell played on loan for Forfar Athletic.
Plus one of the most consistent Scottish players Kenny Miller had a spell at Stenhousemuir before he hit the big time.
Some teams might go 100 years without developing a player or top coach for the national side. But some teams might have a great spell where they produce a couple of players and maybe even a deputy manager for the Scotland team.
Some will claim that if we shut down the smaller sides that will leave more resources for the bigger sides.
But all the big sides do when they get more money is go out and buy some big name player. How does that help the national side?
We need a system which develops and keeps good players in Scotland. But also has as many chances as possible each weekend for Scottish players to develop.
So I say have more sides, not less sides. Give more opportunities for young Scottish players to develop against proper sides.
Thanks for reading.
Enjoy. -

Will Scottish League One And League Two Be Played In 2020-21?
Will Scottish League One and Scottish League Two be played in 2020-21?
Some people have been claiming that if no fans are allowed to watch games, in Scottish football stadiums, then it would be economically impossible to play the games in League One and League Two. League One and League two are the third and fourth tiers of Scottish football.
Here is an alternative.
How about they have a shorted season? Just to keep the clubs ticking over? Or a regionalised league with small groups of four, and a cup played over a month. Clubs might not be able to play an entire league season. But maybe they could afford a month of football?
With promotion and relegation decided by performance in a regionalised cup trophy.
It could be the Scottish Challenge Cup played? With performances in the cup deciding what leagues each team plays in when the crisis is over.
The problem is if the League One and League are stopped and never return. That would be a huge shame. As we need as many clubs in Scotland as possible. Also I still say the big teams should have B teams playing in the lower leagues to give young players early competitive football experience.
Thanks.

We need B teams in the lower leagues of the Scottish football system
We need B teams in the lower leagues of the Scottish football system.
The point in this is to allow young Scottish players at the big sides to get early experience of competitive football of playing adult players and testing themselves in front of crowds and real teams.
At present young Scottish players are often kept from playing in the first team by older more experienced players from Scotland or abroad.
A good way to beat this problem, is to have all the Premier sides having B teams in the lower divisions. So young players will be guaranteed games against proper teams.
I would allow all Scottish Premier to have teams in an expanded bottom division of Scottish football, where they could play real Scottish League sides.
In Croatia, France, Portugal, The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, and Spain, the big sides play reserve or youth teams in the lower divisions. It is noticeable that they are all very successful football leagues in developing young players. With all having successful international sides.
This is not about helping the Rangers or Celtic.
I am not a Celtic or Rangers fan. I want this so every Scottish player is developed to maximum potential. And someone will say well why don’t the big sides play their young players anyway, but that is not living in the real world. Their fans demand they play top ready-made players to win the league. Even the small sides to not play entire teams of young players.
We need to develop a system that produces a successful international sides that can qualify for and do well in major international trophies.
Also within the system, the teams could be forced to play number of young players in their B teams, with 3 players over 23 allowed in their B team first 11.The over age players would be there to pass on tricks of the trade to the younger players. So they learn.
Also at present teams keep their home gate receipts, in the Scottish League. So to encourage this idea, any B team would have to share their home gate receipts with their opposing away side.
Critic of my idea-
What about the smaller sides losing their place in the Scottish League?
My answer to that, is that I am happy for as many teams as possible to join the Scottish League.
But you should not put a part time finishing 7 places higher in the Scottish League system above developing good players for the Scottish international side.
And what gets on nerves is people who want to cut the number of teams in the Scottish league, and the next minute want to stop B teams joining the Scottish League out of some fake concern for the smaller part time sides. I love the small part time Scottish sides, but I do not put them above Scotland developing good international players that can perform well for Scotland.
The priority should be having a successful international sides and having Scottish club sides that perform well in European football, and attracting good players to Scotland.
This would really help the international side.
How would you like it if your team had to play a B team?
I would not mind. There are major sides who have played B sides in Scotland in the past.
I would be perfectly happy playing a major side’s B team if it helped Scotland produce more international players. If you are in the lower divisions, you can hardly claim you are too good to play a B team. If that is your level, then that is your level.
How about a Scotland Champions v MLS Champions Trophy?
How about a Scotland Champions v MLS Champions Trophy?
The Champions of the Scottish League could play the Champions of the American (USA, and Canada) MLS each year. With the final played in a one leg final at one of the participating teams’ home stadiums. One year it could be in Scotland, the next in North America. With each region taking it in turn to host the trophy final.
It could be ranked as a serious trophy that could rank with the major Scottish trophies. It would be like the European Super Cup. As only two teams would participate.
The only problem is global warming. As it would mean one of the teams travelling across the Atlantic Ocean, each year. So that would add to the carbon footprint.
But if it was just one leg, with one team only travelling the Ocean, that would be better than a two leg trophy. It would be good fun, due to the connections between Scotland and North America.
It could get good attendances, due to the size of clubs. It could help USA, and Canadian football be taken more seriously by competing against a major European side.
The trophy would need to be counted as a serious trophy on a part with the official league and cup trophies.

How about a 14, 10, 10, 10 league re-organisation for Scottish football?
How about a 14, 10, 10, 10 re-organisation for Scottish football?
That way Inverness CT, and Dundee United could be promoted to the Premier, with no teams relegated. And we would not need to relegate any teams from the Premier. So Hearts and Hamilton would not be relegated.
Each league would need no relegation, and two teams would be promoted into each division. Plus Brora Rangers and Kelty Hearts could be promoted from the Highland and Lowland Leagues into the League Two.
The Scottish Premier could be a 14 team league, with each teams playing each other twice then splitting into two groups of seven. Each team in each group would then play each other home and away. That adds up to 38 games a season, so no change for the sides in the Premier.
That solves all the problems.

Scottish Football Programmes for European Games
Once thing I notice is that European match programmes for Scottish football teams are worth more than English football programmes for European games. Is this because Europe means more to Scottish clubs? Scottish clubs get to play massive sides that are bigger than there is in Scotland. Also Scottish teams treat European football more seriously. Which is good.

Scottish team with a blue and green kit - Idea
A Scottish club team with a blue and green kit.
The two biggest rivals in Scottish football are Glasgow Celtic, and Glasgow Rangers.
Rangers play in blue. Celtic play in green and white hoops.
So how about a Scottish team choose a second kit that reflects this rivalry?
They could choose a green and blue kit, hooped or striped.
So a Scottish side could choose a kit that could be attractive to Rangers and Celtic fans. It could be marketable as pleasing both sets of fans.
Maybe Aberdeen, Motherwell or Ross County could play in the kit, as their second kit. If a team already has blue or green on their first kit, then it would silly to have green or blue on their second strip.
I do not know if there is a team that already plays in a green and blue kit

Scotland V Rest of the World at Football
Scotland V Rest
of the World at Football.
Maybe Scotland
could hold another international when they play a Rest of the World select. That
way they could try and attract great players to Scotland, from all over Europe
and the World. In the old days international teams used to play the Rest of
Britain, or Rest of Europe, or Rest of the World selects.
The great thing
is, if Scotland win they can say they have beaten every team in the World. If
they lose they can say well so what we were playing the entire World.
Scotland was one
of the first teams to play international football, so should be able to get
good players coming to the game. Maybe even Messi, or Ronaldo could play.
They could get a
top manager to manage the Rest of the World select. The Rest of the World, can
work under acronym ROTW.

USA - British Isles Soccer Club Cup
A USA - British
Isles Soccer Club Cup.
How about the
leading club sides of Scotland, England, the USA, Canada, Ireland (including N
Ireland), and Wales, play a cross border cup called the USA – British Isles Cup?
The USA and
Canada have great potential for soccer as a sport. So we could benefit from playing
massive sports sides of the USA.
The banter would
be great as USA and most Canada people speak English.
There could be
great trips to places like New York, LA, Miami, Salt Lake City, Chicago, and
Dallas.
The only problem
would be global warming as travelling across the Atlantic Ocean every week
would be bad for our carbon footprint and increase global warming. So there
would need to be ways of limiting the number of trips across the Atlantic
Ocean. Such as teams playing consecutive games on one trip across the Atlantic
Ocean.
Teams like
Glasgow Celtic, Glasgow Rangers and Aberdeen would love to play big USA club
sides and make soccer big in the USA. If the English think they are too big for
this. Then the Scots could do it on their own playing big USA sides in competitive
games. A Scottish - USA Cup. Celtic and Rangers would be big attractions.
Should the Pro14 Rugby Union Expand to North America?
Should North American sides join the PRO14, formerly known as the Celtic League? It would be a good way of expanding rugby union in the USA, and Canada. The USA and Canada have massive potential in rugby union. The games could be held in the eastern USA to reduce travel. Tames could be a in Montreal, Toronto, Chicago, New York, Miami, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington DC.
The major problem though is the carbon footprint. I would feel guilty for the environment. It could be tough to have teams travelling across the Atlantic Ocean every few weeks. It could seriously damage the environment, to have thousands of fans travelling across the Atlantic Ocean for games.
Canada, and the USA speak English, ss could have good banter with the English speaking clubs of the league.
There would be Scottish teams like Glasgow, and Edinburgh, plus the Irish, Italian and South African sides in the trophy.
There is talk about having teams in Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Romania, and Georgia (The country not the USA state. They could have a team in Poland, or Slovakia.
It would be like a European super league.

Scottish Club Game In The USA
The Scottish League or SFA could play a competitive club game in the league, or cup in the USA. This would be a good way of attracting interest in the USA to Scottish football. It could be Celtic or Rangers playing a home or away game in the USA, like New York, Boston, Los Angeles, Dallas, Miami, Las Vegas, or Chicago.
It might get all the Irish Americans turning up for a Glasgow Celtic game. It could be a away game for Celtic or a home game. Perhaps Hamilton, or Kilmarnock could play their home game against Rangers or Celtic in the USA.
The only problem with this is the carbon footprint. As it might be dangerous for teams to travel across the Atlantic Ocean, in terms of increasing the carbon footprint of Scottish football.
Glasgow Celtic should play a competitive game in Dublin.
Glasgow Celtic should play a competitive football game in Dublin, Ireland. They have big supports across the nation of Ireland. So this would be a way of Celtic and Scottish football thanking Ireland for their support.
Celtic could play the game in the Aviva Stadium.
The game could be an early round domestic cup game. Or perhaps even a home game or even an away game in the league. Perhaps a team like Ross County or Hamilton, might agree to playing their home game against Celtic in Dublin. That way they could get a massive crowd in Dublin rather than a small crowd in their home stadium.
I know that would be a controversial, for any small clubs in Scotland, as it would be getting rid of a home game and might damage season ticket attendances. So perhaps it would be better if Celtic just played a home game in Dublin.
I know some Irish sides might find this controversial as it could eat into their attendances. So Celtic could host the game outside the Irish soccer season and give a percentage of income to the Irish club sides in Dublin.
This could be a one off. It could be fun,
I would be happy for the Irish to play club league game in Scotland.
A Scottish club side should tour China or India
A Scottish club side should tour China or India. It would be
a great for a Scottish soccer side to tour these nations. As I have look through
the records, and Scottish club sides do not seem to have been to India or
China. Which is wrong in my view. We should tour these great nations. We have
long history with these nations. We could have the honour of playing their top
club sides. Perhaps a Scottish club side could even challenge a league or
national select at some level. I have looked at tours Scottish club sides have made. Mostly Scottish sides just toured, Australia, North America, South Africa
or Europe. I would love to see Scottish club sides tour China or India. As
China and India are the two most populated nations on the planet. At present.
It would be a great if Aberdeen, Inverness CT, or Celtic, Ross County, Rangers, Dundee United or someone toured these nations.
This would not primarily be about boosting Scottish TV audiencnes in Asia. It would be an honour in itself for a Scottish side to play against teams in these rich cultural and historical nations.

A Match between Combined Celtic And Rangers V Scotland
There should be a combined Glasgow Celtic and Glasgow Rangers team V a Scottish League or Scotland national select at the end of the season. Maybe at the level of the first teams or under 21 level.
This would be a good way of uniting Celtic and Rangers fans, and of allowing the Scottish national side at international first team or international under 21 level to try out players against a top side. Without favoring Celtic or Rangers.
It could get a good crowd, and would be a big media event. It could be
televised with Celtic and Rangers fans both wanting to support their team to
win. It could also help decrease sectarianism in Scottish football by having
Celtic and Rangers on the same team.
A Match between Combined Celtic And Rangers V Scotland.
Games between winners of the Scottish Challenge Cup and FA Trophy
Games between winners of the Scottish Challenge Cup and FA Trophy
The Winners of the Scottish Challenge Cup and FA
Trophy should play each other in a two-leg final. The cup could be named after
the old Anglo – Scottish Cup, taking on board the old trophy name.
The FA Trophy is the top English non-league
domestic cup.
The Scottish Challenge Cup is a trophy played
primarily between the teams of the SPFL below the Premier. So the finalists of
the trophy would probably include a top team from Scottish Championship and a
team from the English National League.
The teams are on a similar level financially.
The top non league domestic cup of England, versus the lower league cup of
Scotland.
The come could be played over two legs. It would
be good fun to have a cross border cup between Scotland and England.
Multi Sports Club Sides In Scotland
Multi sports Club sides in Scotland.
Like the way Real Madrid, and many of the Greek sides have multi sports sides. Playing basketball and football, and other sports, all under the same umbrella.
Obviously different players in each team. I am not suggesting the football players should also play in the basketball team too.
But it would be great for clubs like Aberdeen, Celtic, Rangers, Hearts, Hibs, and Dundee United to have teams in many different sports, such as shinty, cricket, rugby, basketball, and volleyball.
It would advertise the club sides.

Barbarian FC should play other sports like soccer
Barbarian FC are a rugby side. The Barbarian Football Club, British
Barbarian FC usually just known as the Barbarians.
It is a pick of players from all over the world.
That plays other teams, from all over the world.
Most noticeably they play international rugby
sides like Wales, Scotland, England, Ireland and New Zealand.
Here is my idea.
Thy should have a soccer side too. And lots of
other sports sides, like basketball, baseball volleyball, cricket hockey, ice
hockey and shinty.
It would be great to have a rest of the world,
that play other international sides. I think it would make a lot of money and
the money generated would be good, for the business.
Scotland should play India or China at international level soccer.
Scotland should play India or China at international level soccer / football.
Scotland should play China or India. As they are the two biggest nations in the World. It would be an honour to play them.
Soccer is the biggest sport in the world. Yet Scotland one of the founders of international football have never played either of the biggest two nations in the world (in terms of population). Wales and the Republic of Ireland have played China. But I do not find much evidence of any of the British Isles nations playing India.
We have a long history with India and China. So we should play one of them at football. It would be an honour to play the biggest nations in the World.

The Scottish League needs to grow.
We need ideas to make the league more attractive to TV audiences. Too many people try to put down Scottish football.
We need to big up Scottish soccer.
Big up the clubs. Support the clubs in Europe. Improve the quality of players in the League. And keep the big Scottish clubs in the Scottish League. So Scotland can have a great major league, that produces great players teams and coaches,
We need to big up Scottish soccer.
Big up the clubs. Support the clubs in Europe. Improve the quality of players in the League. And keep the big Scottish clubs in the Scottish League. So Scotland can have a great major league, that produces great players teams and coaches,
The Scottish League is Not Just Celtic and Rangers
I read someone say that the Scottish League should just be Celtic playing Rangers to decide who the champions are. But that makes no sense as an argument. It would not be the Scottish League then. It would just be the Old Firm League.
I want Glasgow Celtic and Glasgow Rangers to stay in the Scottish League, so the league can genuinely decide who the best Scottish teams are, as with the other teams in the Premier,
But a true Scottish League needs more than just two teams. It needs teams in the League to fundamentally prove that Celtic and Rangers are capable of beating other teams in the top league.
Plus the race for European qualification is important. The relegation battles are important. The races to get promoted into the top leagues are important.
We need other teams to develop players for international sides particularly Scotland.
The vast majority of teams in the English League have not won the League Title in their history. Should they all be chucked out of the English League? And the league only played between teams who have already won the league at least once in their history.
The Scottish league has been won 4 times each by Aberdeen, Hearts and Hibernian.
Should they be chucked out of the top league even when they have not been relegated?
The two big Dundee teams have won the league, as well as Kilmarnock, Dumbarton, Motherwell, and the old Third Lanark side.
Plus so far this season Celtic and Rangers won once and lost once against each other in the league,. Yet Celtic are way ahead ion the league. So their performances against other Scottish League sides has been relevant in determining which side should win the league.
It is possible that Celtic could beat Rangers twice, draw once and lose once, and still in the same hypothetical season finish behind Rangers.
There are tonnes of pro and semi pro sides in Scotland. They deserve a chance to play Celtic or Rangers in the league. So Celtic and Rangers and the opposing trams can prove who has the best side.

Scottish Football Fans Need To Be United For Scotland.
I think Scottish football fans need to be united. We need to be supportive of other clubs, and not want them to go out of business.
We need to all want a system that produces clubs that perform well in Europe, can keep and attract the good players to Scotland, and most importantly of all as an international team that reaches and performs well in major International trophies.
I think there needs to be a sense of unity in Scottish football. Of everyone working hard for a system that makes Scottish football something to be proud of.
We should support Scottish football sides in Europe.
We should not want other Scottish clubs to go out of business.
We should want a rich successful football system.
Thanks for reading my post.

Keeping Scotitsh Clubs Going
I like Scottish football having a rich history. l like to have lots of old clubs with rich histories in Scottish Football. It gives Scottish football a richness in terms of history, that can be reported on in books, and TV shows.
It is fun to have new football clubs of course.
But the older clubs like Queen's Park of Glasgow, Kilmarnock, and Dumbarton give a richness to Scottish football.
I like history and Scottish Football. So to have long lasting football clubs interests me in many ways. We need a rich history of clubs with large lists of trophy wins, legendary players, great moments in history like cup wins, or upsets.
So then we can study how the clubs have progressed through history.
So we need to make sure all the older clubs keep going, and playing football for history
