My Ideals For B And League Football - Scotland.
I would want all the big Scottish sides such as Aberdeen, Glasgow Celtic, Glasgow Rangers, Dundee United, Dundee, Heart of Midlothian, Hibernian, Ross County, Falkirk, Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Motherwell, Kilmarnock and others to enter B teams in the lower divisions of the Scottish soccer system.
Like Scottish Premiership sides enter colt teams in the Scottish Challenge Cup.
Or there was an old Division C where big clubs entered their second teams to play real teams.
Or like the way Celtic, Rangers and Hearts have entered teams in the Scottish Lowland League next season.
The theory is that young Scottish players at the big clubs will get early experience of competitive football, even if there are older players in front of them in the first team.
So this way young players will get good experience against real sides almost guaranteed.
They have or presently allowed second teams of the big sides to play in the lower divisions of various nations. Such as Germany, France, Belgium, Portugal, the Netherlands, Croatia, and Spain.
This way even if the big clubs sign loads of Scottish or foreign players, their younger players will still get early experience of competitive football.
It will result in more Scottish players developing. And the more top players we have the more likely our international sides will do well.
This is primarily about Scottish clubs developing top Scottish players. I make no excuse of that.
The national team is the priority. And we need to create a system where club sides can do well in Europe and yet still produce a conveyor belt of talented players.
This way we can still keep experienced players at the top clubs without damaging the development of younger players.
My ideal league for the B teams would be one where they can play a variety of teams, such as teams with different styles and systems. Where they can play in front of decent crowds. Where they can sometimes play other B teams, but also real teams. So they get a wide variety of experiences and systems to play against.
Get players developing into top players.
