The Scottish Challenge Cup has some interesting games tonight such as Brora Rangers v Aberdeen B, Stenhousemuir v Dundee United B, Hibernian B V Elgin City, East Fife V St Johnstone B, and St Mirren B V Kelty Hearts,
Tomorrow Celtic B will play Annan Athletic, while Dumbarton will play the Rangers B side.
I love the way B sides get to play proper sides. It is a great way of developing young Scottish players, at the big clubs. It gives them a taste of real soccer. There are teams from Scottish League One, Scottish League Two and the Highland League playing the B sides in the Scottish Challenge Cup.
I think we need more B teams in the Scottish Highland League and Scottish Lowland League.
I think Aberdeen, Hearts, Hibs, Dundee United, Motherwell, and Dundee should have B sides playing in either the Highland or Lowland Leagues,
It is about developing more good Scottish players, Giving more young players game time against proper sides. It is a compliment to the the smaller sides that big sides would develop their players against their sides.
Thanks. -
