Heart of Midlothian Retire Number 26 shirt for Zaliukas.

The legendary Heart of Midlothian player Marius Zaliukas died last year after suffering from Motor Neurone Disease. Heart of Midlothian have decided to honour the great player with the retirement of the number 26 shirt. 

While at Hearts he won a Scottish FA Cup as captain in 2012. 

Among other trophies he won  also won at Žalgiris, the A Lyga, and the Lithuanian Football Cup. 

The player lived from 1983 to 2020. 

He was a Lithuanian who played for Hearts, Glasgow Rangers, Inkaras Kaunas, Leeds United, Žalgiris, FBK Kaunas and FK Šilutė. Plus he also played for the Lithuanian national side.  

He was part of an era when Hearts signed many Lithuanian players. The club were owned by  Vladimir Romanov in that era.
