Travis - Why Does It Always Rain On Me? (Official Video)

Here is the famous Scottish band, Travis.

Scotland and England have won more World Cups at soccer.

As we know, the British nations have not officially been that successful at winning football – soccer world cups.

But considering the first football international outside the United Kingdom was in 1901. Does this mean that all Home international championships won before 1901 were actually de facto World Cups.

Therefore the winners of the home international championships from 1884 *the year the championship started) up till 1901 was the planet’s World Champions’

The list would be.

Listed below is who won the home international championships from 1884 to 1900.

1884 Scotland. 1

1885 Scotland. 2
1886 Scotland. 3

1887 Scotland. 4

1888 England.1

1889 Scotland. 5

1890 England. 2

1891 England. 3

1892 England. 4

1893 England. 5

1894 Scotland. 6

1895 England. 6

1896 Scotland. 7

1897 Scotland. 8

1898 England.7

1899 England. 8

1900 Scotland. 9

If this is accepted then Scotland have won a further 9 World Cups.

While England have a won a further 8 World Cups.

This makes England and Scotland the two most successful teams in world football.

Plus Scotland v England was the only international played until 1876.

Does this mean all England – Scotland games from 1972 to 1875 were also de facto world cups?

If this is the case then.

In 1872 the game between Scotland and England was drawn, so both were joint world champions.

In 1873 the games between Scotland and England, was  4-2 win for England, making England world champions.

In 1874 Scotland won 2-1 making Scotland world champions.

In 1875 the game was drawn making the teams both joint world champions.

It is hard to deny that the golden era in Scottish football, was the 19th century, when Scotland ruled the soccer world

The Ancient Soccer World Cup List of Champions.

The Ancient Soccer World Cup : 3100 BC to 1850.

As we know there has been an official World Cup of international teams running from 1930.

Before that, the international football (soccer),started with a game between Scotland and England in 1872, then Wales and Ireland followed. And after that in 1901 Argentina played Uruguay played the first international outside the United Kingdom.

But did you know that for thousands of years football was played before then, with some of the greatest rivalries played out over history.

I found out that the champions of the ancient to modern times, was listed in a scroll. The scroll was in a library that will remain secret. But now I will reveal who the champions were.  Let me add that in the early years football was played more intermittently due to the distance to travel, and the difficulty in geo-political relations.

Here is a list of nations in ancient to modern times soccer.

Movie of Poetry

Has there ever been a movie of entirely poetry?
Words, and lyrics just of profound and pretentious poetry.
I thought of this as I watched one of the classic scenes of Blade Runner. Plus William Shakespeare is largely poetry he is such a profound writer.

I have tried writing but I could never do a great poetic story. Maybe I could if I tried. But I am too lazy a writer.

Imagine a 1 and a half hour movie of beautiful profound poetry. That would be tough to write.

Some people would say musicals, and operas can fit into that category if done well. But I would include poetry where they was no music. But it could have some music.

Blade Runner - Final scene, "Tears in Rain" Monologue (HD)

One of the greatest poetry scenes in a movie.

Makes me think. It would be a good idea to make a movie entirely of poetry.

THE FIRST Official Trailer (2018) Sean Penn, TV Series HD

This is one of the best trailers for a TV series ever. It is profound, and moving. Great words and acting by Sean Penn. It is up there with Blade Runner.

Radiohead - Fake Plastic Trees

This is my fave Radiohead Song. It is poetic and profound. I love Radiohead. They are a classy band.

Andy's Midnight Gameshow with Michael McIntyre

Great comedy.

Back to the Future | Marty McFly Plays "Johnny B. Goode" and "Earth Angel"

A great scene, from my favourite movie of all time. Back to the Future is greatest film of the last century. It was funny, cool, and clever.

The Hollies - Long Cool Woman (In a Black Dress) (Official Audio)

This song has got my favourite guitar intro. It is awesome.

Charli XCX & Troye Sivan - 1999 [Official Video]

Love this song. It is cool and a modern classic. Clever lyrics. With cool costumes for participants.

Christine and the Queens - Tilted (Official Video)

I love Christine and the Queens. She is an ace French pop music artist.

British German Cup

I know this goes counter to my ideas about global warming. But how about having a British German Cup, of football, made up of a single leg knockout cup, where all German and English top divisions sides who have not qualified for Europe. Plus every Scottish and Welsh and Northern Irish top divisions sides. A straight knockout cup trophy.

They play in a single leg trophy. This would exploiut the banter rivallary between Scotland, England, Wales and Germany. It could be a fun cross border cup with games like Hamburg V Newcastle United, Augsburg V Aberdeen, Heart of Midlothian V Werder Bremen, Aston Villa V Celtic, Glasgow Rangers V Everton.

Global Warming and Sports

Global Warming and Sports

I think we need to seriously think about the impact major international trophies have on global warming.
I have read Greta Thunberg's book, and it has really made me take seriously global warming.
It got me thinking about the serious damage that it does to  the environment, in having massive trips for sports.
I love football, rugby and other sports.
It is a great honour to have teams travelling across the globe as a fan. But global warming could kill billions and destroy species, diversity and civilisations across the planet. It could be a major extinction event up their with the wipe out of the dinosaurs 67 million years ago.

So what steps should pro sports take to cut down on it's carbon footprint?
1. Regionalise the European Football draws. So that the Champions League and Europa League are divided into four regions, North West, North East, South West and South East. Then have only the later rounds involving the pan European draw.
2. Do not have World Leagues in sport.
Be that rugby, football, cricket, baseball, basketball. Keep to smaller regions.
3. Hold sports events in areas that already have the stadiums, and do not need to build new stadiums, arenas, and other high carbon footprint systems.
4. Make motor racing use electric cars and motorbikes rather than Carbon costly systems,.
5. Stop European soccer sides travelling to Australia, Asia, or North America for friendly tours.
6. Do not play American sports franchises in Europe.
7. Decrease the size of the Olympics, World Cup and European Championships.
8. Do not have  a European Soccer League.
9. Do not have a Cricket World League.
10. Do not have boxing matches on different continents to where the participants are from.

If we do not change our ways, there will not be major sports leagues because the countries will have been destroyed.

Welsh Sides in FA Trophy

I think that a good way to help the Welsh League is to have cross border cups between the Welsh League, and big sides from the English Football System.
The Football Association Challenge Trophy also known as the Buildbase Trophy.
I say invite Welsh sides into the English non league, FA Trophy.

If all Welsh Premier sides were invited to take part in the trophy. It could really help Welsh football. It would give teams of a very high standard to play against Welsh Premier sides, and would not take anything away from the trophy.
UEFA allow Welsh, English and Irish sides to take part in the Scottish lower division Scottish Challenge Cup. So why not try allowing Welsh sides into the FA Trophy?
It would really help Welsh soccer. It would be fun for English non league sides to test themselves against non English league sides.

Also perhaps 2 Scottish lower division sides could be invited into the trophy such as Queen of the South, Anna, Stranraer, or Ayr United.

It would enable great banter between English, Welsh and Scottish sides.
It would be a real test for all the sides.

Travel -
The early rounds could be regionalised so teams would not have long distances. Welsh sides could play English border sides or even Welsh sides in the non league system,  such as Wrexham FC.

Celtic Clubs in English Football League Trophy

Celtic Clubs in English Football League Trophy

I think they should allow Scottish, Welsh, and possibly Irish sides in the English Football League Trophy.
This would massively help Welsh football, and would be a interesting part of the season for Scottish and Irish sides.
Th English Football League Trophy is the trophy also known as the leasing.com trophy and formerly known as the Checkatrade Trophy.
It is a trophy in the main for English League and English Two teams. But has additional sides from the top under 21 sides from the English Premier.

At present the Scottish allow 2 English Non League sides, 2 Welsh, and 2 Republic of Ireland and 2 Northern Ireland sides in the Scottish Challenge Cup.
So UEFA would be ok about allowing non English sides in the lower divisions English trophy.
Teams in the trophy.
Who should be invited in-
I say invite every Scottish Premier sides who has not qualified for Europe, plus selected Welsh Premier sides.
They could play the games at the same time as the Champions League and Europa League games so the calendar would be open for Scottish and Welsh sides.

Welsh Boost-
I think the Welsh would benefit from this massively. Because they would get the chance for some of their top sides to play for professional clubs. Which would be massive. It would be transformational for Welsh sides.

Scottish fun
I recognise it would not be massive for Scottish sides. But as a Scot I would love my fave sides to get some games against pro English sides. It would be an interesting part of the season.

English Fun
I recognise the English would not benefit from this massively. But it would be an opportunity for English sides, that never qualify for Europe, to play against foreign league sides. It would be a fun part of the season to test how good they are against Scottish and Welsh sides.

Irish Sides
I would love it if Ulster and Republic of Ireland sides were invited in. I recognise though travel is tougher due to the Irish Sea.

Travel Issues
The Trophy would be split to a Northern and Southern section as it is know. So teams would not have Aberdeen or Inverness to Plymouth. Plus travel is not such an issue for pro sides.
The Welsh sides would only have to travel a handful of times into England so it would not be too much of a chore to travel to England a few times a season fore the trophy.

Imagine Scottish sides getting to play at Wembley. Or games like Aberdeen V Coventry City. Or Hearts V Burton Albion. Or Hibernian V Oldham.
It would be a fun novelty part of the season for Scottish V English banter.

If the English really want to help Scottish football, then instead of merging our leagues and destroying our identity I think cross border cups are the way to go. Where we get the best of both worlds.

Mary Scottish.
