Successful Decades For Scottish Soccer - Male soccer. 

I judge how successful a decade is for Scottish football is, by how many major tournaments the Scotland international team qualifies for, and how many European trophies Scottish club sides have won or been runners-up in. 

I will now list the results, 

Taking the 1950's as the starting point, because before that Scotland did not compete in major tournaments, and European trophies did not happen before the 1950's.


1950's.

Scotland took part in the 1954 and 1958 World Cups.

No Scottish sides reached finals in the 1950's. 

1960's.

Scotland took part in no major tournaments, 

Glasgow Celtic won the 1967 European Cup.

Glasgow Celtic reached the Intercontinental Cup Final. 

Glasgow Rangers reached the 1961 European Cup Winners Cup Final.

Glasgow Rangers reached the 1967 European Cup Winners Cup Final. 

1970's.

Scotland took part in the 1974 and 1978 World Cups.

Glasgow Rangers won the 1972 European Cup Winners Cup. 

Glasgow Rangers reached the 1972 European Super Cup Final. 

Glasgow Celtic reached the 1970 European Cup Final. 

1980's.

Scotland took part in the 1982 and 1986 World Cups. 

Aberdeen won the 1983 European Cup Winners Cup.

Aberdeen won the 1983 European Super Cup.  

Dundee United reached the 1987 UEFA Cup Final.

1990's.

Scotland took part in the 1990 and 1998 World Cups. 

Scotland took part in the 1992 and 1996 European Championships. 

No Scottish side reached or won a European Final.  

2000's 

Scotland qualified for no major tournaments.

Glasgow Celtic reached the 2003 UEFA Cup Final. 

Glasgow Rangers reached the 2008 UEFA Cup Final. 

2010's 

Scotland qualified for no major tournaments.

No Scottish side reached or won a European trophy final. 

2020's 

Scotland took part in the 2020 European Championships. 

So far no Scottish side has reached or won a European trophy final this decade.
