- Glasgow
Celtic – 1966-74: Jock Stein led Celtic to a 9 in a row of league titles,
and a European Cup, and another European Cup final spot.
- Scotland late
19th Century and Early 20th Century. Dominated the
home nations with long unbeaten runs, and massive victories against England,
Wales and Ireland.
- Fergie’s Aberdeen
1978-86. A European Cup Winners Cup, European Super Cup, 4 League titles, 4
SFA Cups and 1 Scottish League Cup.
- Glasgow City
14 in a row. 2007-21. 14 Scottish women’s league titles in a row.
- Glasgow
Rangers 1988-97. Under Souness and Walter Smith. Nine in a row league
titles. First British team in
Champions League Group stages.
- Glasgow Rangers
1920’s-30’s. A period of domination for Rangers who won the majority of
titles in this period, and had one of the strongest sides in Europe.
- Glasgow
Celtic second 9 in a row. Under Neil Lennon and Brendan Rodgers, the Glasgow
Celtic managed 9 in a row of league titles and in one season under Rodgers
lost no games in domestic football.
- Scotland 1974
World Cup Team. Scotland drew with Brazil and Yugoslavia, and beat Zaire.
Scotland went out in a tough group.
- Queen’s Park
19th Century. The Glasgow side won 10 Scottish Cups, in the 19th
century.
- Glasgow
Rangers 1972. Rangers won a European Cup Winners Cup in 1972.
- Martin O’Neill’s
Glasgow Celtic 2000-05. Domestic success plus a UEFA Cup final place in
2003.
- Scot Symon’s Glasgow
Rangers 1954-67. Scottish domestic trophies and the first Scottish side to
reach a European final. Reaching the Cup Winners Cup final in 1961 and
1967.
- Walter Smith’s
second Glasgow Rangers spell 2007-11. Domestic success, plus a UEFA Cup
Final place in 2008.
- Jim McLeans’s
Dundee United 1971-93. Part of the New Firm, Dundee United won domestic trophies,
had consistent high league placings, and had European success with a UEFA
Cup Final in 1987, and wins against Barcelona and Monaco.
- Hibernian
Famous Five. Late Forties- Early Fifties. Hibernian's forward line of Gordon Smith,
Bobby Johnstone, Lawrie Reilly, Eddie Turnbull and Willie Ormond led Hibs
to post war success, with 3 league titles.
- Scotland 1982 World Cup Team. Scotland
performed well in the 1982 World Cup missing our narrowly on the second
phase.
- Scotland Wembley Wizards. Scotland beat
England 5-1 in 1928.
- Scotland 2019 Women’s World Cup side.
Scotland qualified for their first women’s World Cup, but exited at the
group stage.
- Scotland 1996 European Championship side.
Scotland managed a draw against the Netherlands and a win against
Switzerland and narrowly missed out on goal difference on the quarter
finals.
- Scotland 1992 European Championships.
Scotland managed a respectable series of results in a tough group.
- Scotland 1978 World Cup Team. The team had
a defeat to Peru, a draw against a Iran, but managed an impressive win
against the Netherlands to narrowly miss out on the second phase.
- Scotland 1958 World Cup. Scotland knocked
out Spain to qualify. But could only manage two defeats and a draw in the
group stage.
- Scotland 1986 World Cup. Scotland managed
narrow defeats to West Germany and Denmark before a 0-0 draw with Uruguay.
- Scotland 2017 Women’s European
Championship. The first time Scotland qualified for a women’s European
Championship. But Scotland managed one win against Spain and defeats to
England and Portugal.
- Scotland 2020 European Championship. The
Scotland side drew with England but lost the other two games.
- Scotland 1954 World Cup. Scotland
qualified for a first World Cup. But suffered a humiliating defeat to
reigning champions Uruguay 7-0.
- Dumbarton 1890-92. Dumbarton won the first
two Scottish titles in history.
- Van Bronkhurst’s Glasgow Rangers. Limited
domestic success. But they did manage to reach the Europa League final,
where they narrowly lost on penalties to E Frankfurt.
- Heart of Midlothian under Tommy Walker.
He led Hearts as manager to two league titles, 1 Scottish Cup, and 4
Scottish League Cups.
- Celtic 1890’s Plenty of domestic success
in the early years of Scottish football.
- Dundee 1960’s lots of high placings, and
a league title, in a golden era of strong Scottish club sides.
- Kilmarnock 1960’s Lots of domestic
success including a league title.
- Heart of Midlothian 1890’s. Two league
titles in the early years of the Scottish League. Plus they won two
Scottish Cups.
- Scotland 1982 UEFA European Under-18
Championship Champions. Scotland lifted a major European title in the age
group.
- Scotland 1988 World Youth Cup. Scotland
lost a home held championships to Saudi Arabia in the final.
- Renton lifted the Club World Championship
in 1888, and won two Scottish Cups.
- Vale of Leven won 3 consecutive Scottish
Cups in the 1870’s.
- Glasgow Celtic 1906-10. Another period of
consecutive titles for Celtic.
- Glasgow Celtic 1914-17. Yet another period
of consecutive titles for Glasgow Celtic.
- Glasgow Celtic 1980’s. Celtic had plenty
of domestic success in the eighties with league titles, and domestic cups.
- Aberdeen 1950’s A domestic title, and Scottish
League Cup, was a relative success for Aberdeen FC.
- Motherwell 1930’s. One league title, and consistent
high league placings, showed one of the golden era’s in Motherwell’s
history.
- Callum Davidson’s St Johnstone. Led the
team to a domestic cup double with a Scottish Cup and Scottish League Cup
in 2021.
- East Fife 1938, despite being a second
tier team, East Fife won the Scottish Cup in 1938.
- Scott Symon’s East Fife. East Fife won
two Scottish League Cups under his management.
- Alex Smith and Jocky Scott’s Aberdeen.
Under the partnership Aberdeen managed consistent second places and won
the cup double in 1989-90.
- Hibernian 1903. Hibernian lifted their
first league title.
- Third Lanark title winning year. In the
early 20th century Third Lanark became the third Glasgow based
side to win a title.
- Hearts late eighties. Hearts narrowly
missed out on a double in 1986. But managed consistent high league
placings.
- Aberdeen 1940’s. Aberdeen lifted the
Southern League Cup, and Scottish Cup in the forties.
- Aberdeen late sixties, early seventies.
Aberdeen, managed to be a challenger to a great Glasgow Celtic side.
Aberdeen won the Scottish Cup in 1970.
- Dunfermline Athletic. 1960’s. A super
team with two Scottish Cup Final wins, and decent league performances.
- McInnes’s Aberdeen. Aberdeen won the
League Cup and had consistent high placings with a strong side.
- Motherwell 1990’s A Scottish Cup trophy,
and some consistent high league placings.
- Dundee United 1960’s. Dundee United emerged
as a growing force in the sixties with two of their famous four victories
against Barcelona.
- Greenock Morton 1917-22, Some decent
league placings, and a Scottish Cup, in a golden era for the club.
- Airdrieonians managed four Scottish
League runner-up spots and a Scottish Cup,
- Inverness Caledonian Thistle 2000’s. One
Scottish Cup, a league cup finalist place, and some high placings in the
league.
- Hibernian 1970’s. Good placings in the
league, and some impressive European performances.
- Arbroath 1885. Arbroath won 36-0 against Bon
Accord in 1885.
- Stewarton Thistle seventies. In the
seventies. the women’s side reached two FA Cup finals, and won a league
title and Scottish Cup.
- Hibernian Women 2000’s. They won 3 Scottish
league titles, 4 Scottish Cups, and two league cups.
- Cambuslang Rangers. 3 Scottish Junior
Cups in the seventies.
- Glasgow Celtic Youth side early 2010’s.
The team won 4 consecutive Scottish
Youth Cups from 2010-2013.
- Clachnacuddin 1900’s. The team won 6 Scottish
Highland league titles in the decade.
- Huntly 1990’s The side dominated the
Highland League in the 1990’s.
- First Scotland women’s international team
1881. With a game played against England. The first women’s international
was won by Scotland.
- Auchinleck Talbot 2010’s. The club won 5
junior cups in this era.
- Berwick Rangers 1967. Berwick won 1-0
against a great Glasgow Rangers side in 1967.
- Darvel defeated Aberdeen 1-0 in the
Scottish Cup in 2023. A massive upset.
- Elgin City 1960’s The side reached the
Scottish Cup quarter final, and won 7 Scottish Highland League titles in
the decade.
- Eyemouth United managed to reached the
Scottish Cup quarter final in 1960, despite being a non-league side.
- Glasgow Rangers Women’s side 2022. The side
became the first team, other than Glasgow City, to win the Scottish title since
2007,
- St Mirren 1980’s. St Mirren stayed consistently
in the Premier, and won an Anglo-Scottish Cup and the Scottish Cup.
- Clyde 1950’s. Clyde won two Scottish Cup
in the 1950’s.
