Great Britain And Ireland Club Premier Cup - Soccer

Great Britain And Ireland Club Premier Cup – A New Football Trophy Idea.

My new idea is a Great Britain and Ireland Premier Cup.

The idea is that the cup would be for all Scottish Premierships sides, plus all English Premier and English Football League sides, plus 4 or 5 sides each from Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and the Welsh Cymru Premier.

My idea is that they would call it the Great Britain and Ireland Club Premier Cup so that even if the political divisions of the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland change, there would still be the same trophy. Because Great Britain refers to the island that Scotland, Cornwall, Wales, and England are on. While Ireland refers to the island that Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland are on.

Other possible names for the trophy include;

United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland Premier Cup.

British and Irish Isles Premier Cup.

Issues-

Fixture congestion.

Some would say there is fixture congestion in the leagues that would stop this new trophy.

But to make way for the trophy, we could get rid of the Scottish League Cup and English League Cup.

The Scottish League Cup, and English League Cup would still be counted as major honours but it would go the way of the European Cup Winners Cup. An important historical trophy of the past.

In Scotland they could even have league re-organisation, so that we have a 16 team Scottish Premier, with 30 league games a season.

This would massively free up the calendar to make way for a new Great Britain and Ireland football trophy.

My idea is this new trophy would need to be a group stage trophy leading to a knockout round, leading to a final.

This would massively help Scottish, Irish, and Welsh football.

The Welsh and Irish sides playing 6 games a season against Scottish and English professional sides would massively help Welsh and Irish football.

The Scottish sides would benefit in terms of finances and status by playing big sides from England each year.

Clubs like Aberdeen. Glasgow Celtic, Glasgow Rangers, Ross County, The New Saints, Shamrock Rovers, Linfield, and Dundalk would be great in such a trophy.

I do not accept travel would be a huge issue. Look at the trips teams do in the Australian, New Zealand, USA, Canadian, Indian, and Chinese professional sports leagues.

A trip from Dingwall to Limerick is relatively easy. And the potential gold mine of playing massive English sides would be enormous.

The big English sides could treat the group stages like they have treated the early rounds of the FA Cup and English League Cup, where they develop new young players. Then as they get to the later stages they play their first team players.

It would be a great way to help develop soccer in Ireland and Wales.

UEFA have allowed the Scottish to have English, Welsh and Irish sides in the Scottish Challenge Cup, so UEFA should be OK about cross border trophies.

I do not support merging the Scottish, Northern Irish, Welsh and English leagues as that would damage football history, could lead to Scottish sides going decades without winning trophies or playing in Europe.

If the Scottish, and English leagues merged people would just think the new league was a continuation of the English league. So all the trophies English teams had won, would be counted as real trophies, while all the trophies Scottish sides had won would be counted as non-league trophies.

Plus people would think Scotland was part of England, if we merged the leagues.

I think the preferable option is to have 5 strong leagues, across the UK and Ireland rather than just one.

Rod Stewart - Crazy About Her

What is Space made of?

What is Space made of?

I do not mean the atoms, baryonic matter, planets, dust, moons, or plasma that make up the Universe?

I mean what is holding these physical items.

I am specifically talking about what the matter is in or on.

Like if you see a painting or drawing. You look at what the drawing is of.

But what is the ink or paint on? What is the canvass made of?

The question we need to ask ourselves is what are we as matter, and the planets and the vacuum of space on?

For instance we are 1 astronomical unit from the Sun.

We are 150 million kilometres from the Sun.

And some would say there is nothing between the Earth and the Sun. Just a near perfect vacuum, with virtually nothing between us.

But that is not what I am asking. I am asking what is holding that vacuum. On another level what is the vacuum of 150 million miles on.

You cannot have 150 million miles of nothing. I know you will say it is a vacuum. But what is that vacuum on.

I mean if you had a mile of space on Earth. Yes it might be containing matter, such as oxygen, rocks, oceans, clouds, animals, plants. But if you had a mile of outer space. There might be a near perfect vacuum. But it is still 1 mile of space. The same distance both times.

So the thing is. Surely the 1 mile of near perfect space and 1 mile of Earth, are the same distance. So, what is holding that 1 miles of space whether it be a near perfect vacuum or as on Earth containing huge amounts of matter.

The actual structure that holds 1 mile of vacuum space and 1 mile of matter, must be the same thing,

So what is that is holding the 1 mile of space and 1 mile of Earth mass.

This is a vital philosophical and scientific question.

It is as if we are people painted on a canvas that tells a story or landscape. On one level you can as an art critic try to explain the story that the painting is telling. But to make that work of art you must know what we are made. Are we paint, or are we layers of different paint on a canvas?  And what is that canvas made of? A canvas with no paint on it, is the same distance as a canvas with a beautiful landscape or mythical scene.

Successful Decades For Scottish Soccer

Successful Decades For Scottish Soccer - Male soccer.

I judge how successful a decade is for Scottish football is, by how many major tournaments the Scotland international team qualifies for, and how many European trophies Scottish club sides have won or been runners-up in.

I will now list the results,

Taking the 1950's as the starting point, because before that Scotland did not compete in major tournaments, and European trophies did not happen before the 1950's.

1950's.

Scotland took part in the 1954 and 1958 World Cups.

No Scottish sides reached finals in the 1950's.

Aberdeen won the 1983 European Cup Winners Cup.

Aberdeen won the 1983 European Super Cup.

Dundee United reached the 1987 UEFA Cup Final.

1990's.

Scotland took part in the 1990 and 1998 World Cups.

Celtic And Rangers Doing Well In Europe Could Open Up The Scottish League

Celtic And Rangers Doing Well In Europe Could Open Up The Scottish League.

I support all Scottish clubs in Europe, as matter of patriotism.

I want all Scottish clubs to do well in Europe, because it makes Scottish football look good.

Like in the 1980's when Scottish sides got far in European trophies regularly.

I want all Scottish clubs to do well including Glasgow Celtic and Glasgow Rangers.

But some ruthless fans of in Scotland, actually want other Scottish clubs to do badly in Europe.

Out of tribalism of wanting your rivals to lose.

But some fans particularly want the Old Firm to do badly because it means the will have less money, so the reasoning is that then other clubs could challenge for trophies against weaker Old Firm sides.

But I think that is wrong. Celtic and Rangers will still be far ahead of other Scottish sides regardless of how well they do in Europe.

The only way financially that other Scottish sides can compete with the Old Firm is;

1) They have massive investment from some billionaire,

2) They sell a great player for a fortune.

3) They get to compete in a cross border trophy that earns them tens of millions of pounds.

I think the third option is the most likely.

Scottish football could organise a cross border trophy on top of domestic and European football, that generates income for all Scottish sides. Or Celtic and Rangers could do so well in Europe, that the 3rd and 4th best Scottish sides get qualified automatically into the group stages of a UEFA trophy, earning them millions of pounds.

So that is another reason to want Celtic and Rangers to do well in Europe. That it automatically qualifies a Hearts, Hibs, Aberdeen, Dundee United, Motherwell or another Scottish sides to the group stages of the Europa League or Europa Conference League.

That non Old Firm club will then earn so much money that they can invest to challenge realistically for the league title.

A Celtic Nations Soccer Side?

Would it be good to have a combined Celtic Nations soccer side in a friendly made up of players from Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, Cornwall, the Isle of Man, and Brittany?

This would be like the British and Irish lions rugby union side, but in soccer. It would be like the West Indies cricket side, which is a composite cricket side made up of different nations.

A composite soccer side made up of different nations has not been tried that often.

I would still support the Celtic Nations having their own teams if they want.

As a Scot I want Scotland to continue to have their own side. But a combined team of Celtic nations would be fun in a friendly.

But a united Celtic Nations idea would be a fun experiment and novelty to try.

The Celtic Nations united side could play against major European or South American nations,

If it is too much pressure on the fixture list, then the Scots, Welsh, Northern Irish and Republic of Ireland could go without a senior international that day or week. While the trick could be to have the united Celtic Nations soccer side to play a game against a major nation, then a day later for the B teams of Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland to play one of each other, so the other international players could get game time.

A united Celtic Nations team would be fun,

It could be tried at male and female soccer.

It could even be tried at different age ranges. So there could be a united Celtic Nations under 21 side in a friendly. This could give the players that take part a chance to play with the top players of each Celtic nation. You would expect the team to be of a higher standard than the individual nations.

Some of the other notable results in the Europa League today included;

Barcelona 0 Galatasaray 0.

Sporting Braga 2 Monaco 0.

A notable result yesterday in the Scottish Highland League saw Brora Rangers win 8-0 against Forres Mechanics,

We've Got Tonight - Lulu - Ronan Keating

Dundee 0 St Mirren 1 - Scottish Premiership.

Dundee 0 St Mirren 1 - Scottish Premiership.

Yesterday, St Mirren had an away victory against Dundee in the Scottish Premiership.

Ronan scored the only goal of the game for St Mirren.

The result leaves Dundee bottom of the Scottish Premiership.

While St Mirren have added 3 points to their total in the league.

Celtic Nations National Cricket Side.

Celtic Nations National Cricket Side.

I think there should be a national composite cricket side representing the Celtic nations of Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, Cornwall, Brittany, and the Isle of Man.

In cricket there is already a strong composite side called the West Indies.

The West Indies cricket side represents various nations such as Jamaica, and Barbados.

So how about a composite national side for the Celtic nations.

I think Scotland, Wales and Ireland will struggle to win major cricket trophies. But a united Celtic nation side would have a good chance of doing well at test cricket, and other formats.

A Celtic Nations team could play sides like Australia, India, South Africa, and the West Indies.

The Celtic nations add up to a population of over 20 million people.

So this would be a good market for cricket.

The vast majority of players and interest would come from Scotland, Wales and Ireland.

The individual nations of Scotland and Ireland will struggle on their own to win the major trophies. But together they could win trophies.

Games for the test matches and internationals could be played in Aberdeen, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Cardiff, Swansea, Cork, Dublin, Truro and Belfast.

There would be likely good regular representation from Scotland, Wales and Ireland in the side due to the similar population levels.

I think this should be done at male and female cricket.

I would still want Glamorgan to continue in the County Championship. But Scotland and Wales could have sides in the County Championship also or the minor counties.

There could also be a composite mainland European cricket side.

Maybe a united Celtic Nations side could also be tried in rare rugby union, basketball, rugby league and occasional football matches like the British and Irish Lions rugby union side.

I Support Celtic And Rangers Playing In Australia

I Support Celtic And Rangers Playing In Australia.

I do not have a problem with the Old Firm playing in a tournament in Australia,. It is a good way of increasing interest in Scottish soccer, Which could be good for TV rights deals.

Scottish clubs and the Scottish national sides have travelled in history to Brazil, Japan, Australia, Russia, Ukraine, Africa, South Korea, the USA, Canada Israel, Turkey, New Zealand, Mexico and Hong Kong.

So why is there suddenly a problem with Celtic and Rangers playing some games in Australia now?

Scottish football needs to grow. And if we can get more interest abroad in Scottish soccer, then that is good for all the club sides.

We need Scottish clubs to do well in terms of finances. So we can build up the clubs in terms of players and stadiums.

Scottish Sides Should Organise More Cross Border Trophies.

I think Scottish football needs more cross border cups on top of domestic and European soccer. The trophy could be against teams from the Celtic nations, or other European nations, or sides from Africa, Asia, North America, South America, or even Australia,
