Enter Cymru Premier Sides in English FA Trophy

Enter Cymru Premier Sides in English FA Trophy

I think that the English should invite all Welsh / Cymru Premier sides and selected Southern Scottish sides from the Scottish Championship into the English non-league trophy known as the FA  Trophy.

I think this would add to the history of the trophy. It would really help Welsh soccer. As it would allow top Welsh / Cymru Premier sides to play top non-league English sides. Welsh league sides would be fun for non-league English sides to travel too. It would improve the quality of teams playing in the trophy.

It would improve the scope of the trophy. It would help Welsh sides play top quality historic sides.

Travel would not be too difficult. As all of Wales is reasonably close to most parts of England. Plus the early rounds could be regionalised.

The Scottish were allowed by UEFA to have Welsh, Irish and English sides in the Scottish Challenge Cup. So UEFA should be OK with this idea.

It would cost the English little. But it would really help Welsh soccer. It would be a massive helping hand to Welsh soccer, with little expense put forward to help Welsh soccer.

Imagine games like The New Saints v FC United of Manchester, Stockport County v Cefn Druids, Caernarfon v Gateshead, Aberystwyth v Southend United, Newtown FC v Kidderminster Harriers. Or from Scotland Queen of the South could take part. They could travel to play Dover Athletic.

These games would not much more difficult for English non-league sides than Yeovil Town travelling to Gateshead.

Plus early rounds could regionalized so that Welsh sides play sides from near the Welsh border.

It would also allow English non-league sides to play against teams that play in Europe in competitive matches.

It could allow Welsh sides to get play bigger sides with big stadiums.

While the English sides could get cross border games to visit beautiful places, and have a version of European football.

The FA Trophy has already been won by Welsh sides, so it would not be like this would be giving away a trophy that had never gone out of England.

My idea would be all Welsh / Cymru Premier sides would be invited into the trophy.

It would be a relatively easy gesture from England to do something that would massively help Welsh Cymru Premier soccer.

For many years sides from all over Wales played in the English non-league system such as Colwyn Bay, Bangor City, Caernarfon and Rhyl. So if it was possible for them to play entire seasons in the non-league system of England. So then why not in a straight knockout trophy, of a few games a season?
