Glasgow Rangers Draw Red Star Belgrade in Europa League

Glasgow Rangers Draw Red Star Belgrade in Europa League.

Today Glasgow Rangers were drawn to play Serbian giants Red Star Belgrade in the Europa League. It is a big game for both sides. Both sides have an outside chance of winning the Europa League.

It is more of an open tournament, than the European Champions League. There is more of a chance for clubs from Scotland to win the Europa League than the European Champions League.

But there are still some big names left in the Europa League such as Barcelona, Sevilla and Atalanta. Plus many many more other big top quality sides.

I Hope Aberdeen Get A Massive Stadium

It would be great if Aberdeen FC built a 30,000 all seater all covered stadium,

It would be great if Aberdeen FC had an indoor dome stadium,

Aberdeen is a big city, so could support a large stadium.

The main problem is the cost of building a big Aberdeen stadium, and the problem of filling the stadium.

Aberdeen took 40,000 fans to the last League Cup final they won,

So Aberdeen have the potential to be a far bigger side in terms of attendances and support.

Thanks.-

If Croatia Can Reach A World Cup Final, So Can Scotland.

If Croatia Can Reach A World Cup Final, So Can Scotland.

For years we have heard people say Scotland cannot reach World Cup Finals or other trophy finals. But if a country like Croatia which is smaller than Scotland, then why can't Scotland reach a final?

I am not insulting Croatia. They have done very well and have great superb players. But if Croatia can reach a World Cup Final, then so can Scotland. I think the main way to do this is to have B teams in the lower divisions so all the young Scottish players at the big sides are ensured of a chance of getting to play against senior sides in competitive soccer.

I support Glasgow Celtic, Glasgow Rangers, Aberdeen, Hearts, Hibs, Dundee United and Motherwell having B sides in the lower divisions of the SPFL or in the Scottish Highland League, or Scottish Lowland League.

Could It Be A Aberdeen v Kilmarnock Scottish Premiership Play-Off?

Aberdeen are on a bad run of form. Aberdeen fans will be wanting Aberdeen to start winning.

Not only could they be playing Cove Rangers in the Scottish Championship next season if they continue to lose.

But Aberdeen may play the play-off against Kilmarnock to decide who plays in the Scottish Premiership next season.

At present Kilmarnock are in second place in the Scottish Championship.

Aberdeen are sliding down the league table, and if they finish 11th they have to play a play-off against a team from the Scottish Championship. That could be against Kilmarnock. The irony is that Kilmarnock are managed by former Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes.

I would love it if the English could have cross border cups with the Scottish, and Welsh Premiers, on top of domestic and European football.

My idea would be a British Premier Soccer Cup

I Think Scotland Should Host A World Club Cup.

Scotland has the stadiums, and the fans to host a World Club Cup.

The nation is one of the first football nations. It has a proud history as a footballing nation.

With great football cities like Glasgow, Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Dundee, Inverness.

The trophy could be held all over the country.

And a Scottish side could be entered in the trophy as hosts,

The trophy could be held in late Autumn or early or mid - spring.

Scottish football deserves to be rewarded for all it has done for football.

British Premier Soccer Cup

British Premier Soccer Cup.

I would love the football authorities in Great Britain to have a British Premier Cup between all the sides of the Scottish Premiership, plus selected Welsh / Cymru Premier sides. Plus all the sides of the English Premier League and English Championship who have not qualified for Europe. Perhaps even sides from Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland could take part. But then it would need to be called the British and Irish Premier Cup if it had sides from Ireland also.

My reasoning is that I do not want the Scottish, Welsh and English leagues to merge. As that would destroy Scottish football history and would take away the chances for Scottish sides to qualify for Europe, and win national trophies. Also clubs in Scotland could be doing twenty 500 mile away trips a season in a united British League.

My preferred option is to have 3 or 5 strong national leagues in the British Isles. Rather than one strong league.

If we had cross border cups involving English, Scottish, Welsh and Irish sides then that would pump money into the Scottish, Welsh and Irish soccer clubs.

People in the Celtic nations would love their clubs to play English sides without giving up their own separate leagues.

If the English soccer authorities really want to help Scottish, Welsh and Irish sides to grow. Then instead of merging our leagues. It would be more fun and kinder to have cross border cups on top of the domestic leagues and European football.

That way we could have 3 or 5 strong leagues in the British and Irish Isles.

For Scotland, if the top Scottish clubs could earn tens of millions from playing EPL sides every season, that could transform some Scottish clubs to being capable of winning major European trophies while still competing in their own leagues. Give Celtic or Rangers 40 million pounds each, while still being in the SPFL, and they could be rich enough to win the Champions League let alone the Europa League and Europa Conference League.

Plus they could still stay in their own league and win trophies.

While if we merged the Scottish and English Premiers, then most Scottish clubs would be lucky to reach the third tier of a British League. And the few that did would be having multi-hundred-mile trips 20 times at least a season.

The preferable option is to keep the SPFL, and keep Scottish sides playing in their own league, but have at most 7 or eight away trips to England each season.

That could still generate lots of money for all Scottish Premiership sides and still keep the trips to England as a novelty, that fans would not grow tired of.

I would love my fave Scottish clubs to play some English club sides each season, but not so much that travel would be too tough.

Scottish Premiership sides would be able to exploit the fun and banter of the Scotland – England rivalry.

The Welsh Cymru Premier sides would benefit from this to an incredible extent. It would be transformational. The status and money from playing EPL and English Championship sides would be massive for the Welsh Cymru Premier club sides. It would transform the selected Welsh Cymru Premier sides who join the trophy.

Cardiff City, Swansea City, Wrexham and Newport County already play in the English Football system, but Cymru Premier sides would benefit from keeping their own leagues but playing against top English sides.

It is not too far for Welsh sides to travel to England and Scotland.

For years Colwyn Bay, Caernarfon, Rhyl and Bangor City played in the English non-league system, so if they were able to play entire season in the English non-league system, why not a handful of away trips to England a season to play top English sides?

The Irish sides would also benefit. But even some full-time sides in Great Britain might find travelling Ireland too difficult. But I would love it if Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland could enter clubs in a British and Irish Premier Cup.

The Scottish were allowed to have English, Welsh and Irish sides in the Scottish Challenge Cup, so UEFA would be OK about cross border cups.

I think cross border British Premier cups would allow club sides in the Celtic nations of Wales and Scotland, to grow bigger.

It could see the leading Scottish sides to do well in European trophies. It could also cause Welsh sides to move up a level and do well in European trophies, Perhaps gaining enough finances to qualify regularly for the Europa League Group stages.

If the English really want to help Celtic soccer, then give us cross border cup trophies with English, Welsh, Scottish, Northern Irish and Republic of Ireland club sides.

People would say travel is tough.

I accept that is a reason to not merge the British leagues. As it would be tough for Scottish sides to travel 20 times a season to England. But the entire point of keeping our domestic leagues but having cross border cups on top of domestic and European football, would be that we would still get the fun of cross border matches, without it becoming a burden and tedious to travel over the border every week.

When you look at the trips teams to in the Australian, Brazilian, Russian, Indian, United States, Mexican, Canadian, German and Chinese sports leagues, then a handful of trips like Inverness to Coventry is not too much.

I think a British Premier Cup would be a great addition on top of European and domestic soccer,

It would cost the English hardly anything, yet would help the Scottish and Welsh grow their clubs enormously. A British Premier Cup, would allow us to have 3 strong national leagues in Great Britain. A British and Irish Cup could allow us to have 5 strong national leagues in the British and Irish Isles.

A British Premier Football Cup could have games like Aberdeen V Coventry City, Wolverhampton Wanderers v Glasgow Celtic, Watford v Glasgow Rangers, Everton v Dundee United, Cardiff City v Motherwell, Heart of Midlothian v Newcastle United, Hibernian v The New Saints, Connah’s Quay Nomads v Crystal Palace, Aston Villa v St Johnstone, St Mirren v West Ham United, Livingston v Leeds United, and Ross County v Leicester City.

I also support the EFL Trophy having all Scottish Premier sides who have not qualified for Europe.

Plus I would support all Welsh Premier sides and selected Southern Scottish sides in the English non-league FA Trophy.

Enter Scottish And Welsh Sides In Football League Trophy

Enter Scottish And Welsh Sides In Football League Trophy

I think the English Football League should invite Celtic sides into the English Football League Trophy.

I think that it would be great if there were cross border club trophies played between club sides from Scotland, Wales, England, and Ireland.

I do not support a merger of the British and Irish leagues as that would destroy our football history and national identity. I would prefer it if we kept our own leagues and European qualification.

But on top of European and domestic football, that we have cross border cup trophies. Like the old Anglo-Scottish Cup type format. My idea is that all the Scottish Premier sides who have not qualified for Europe are given entry into the Football League Trophy. Plus selected sides from the Welsh Cymru Premier, the League of Ireland and Northern Ireland Football League.

The Football League Trophy is the trophy played by English Football League One and English Football League Two sides.

I think it would be great idea if Scottish, Welsh and Irish sides could play in the Football League Trophy by invitation.

I recognize Irish sides might find it difficult to play in the English Football League Trophy. But I do not accept that Scottish and Welsh sides of a certain level would find it too tough to play in the Football League Trophy.

My idea is that every Scottish Premier side is big enough to travel to England. And every EFL side is big enough to travel to even Northern Scotland, and Western Wales.

Plus if 3 or 4 sides were selected from the Welsh Cymru Premier, then all of those sides would benefit so much from playing EFL sides that they would be able to afford to play EFL sides in an EFL Trophy.

UEFA allowed English, Welsh and Irish sides in the Scottish Challenge Cup. So UEFA would surely be OK for Scottish, and Welsh sides to play in the EFL Trophy.

Some people would claim only English Football League sides should play in the EFL Trophy. My answer to that would be EPL Academy sides have played in the EFL Trophy. And in the past English non-league sides have played in the EFL Trophy. Plus EPL sides play in the English Football League Cup.

People would say that only English sides should play in the EFL trophy. My answer ot that would be that Welsh sides have played in the trophy. My view is that it would add to the status and scope of the trophy if selected Scottish and Welsh sides were invited into the trophy.

It would cause great cross border banter.

I am not pretending that this trophy would be like Real Madrid v Barcelona. But it would be fun cross border matches.

I think the Scottish clubs would see it as an alternative to when they have not qualified for European football. The chance to play relatively big English sides. The chance to play a part in English football history. The chance to play in big English stadiums. The chance to travel on mass to beautiful English towns and cities. The chance to exploit the passion of the English - Scottish rivalry. The chance to win a cross border trophy. The chance to play different sorts of teams to who they normally play. It would be great for Scottish sides to play top English sides with big stadia.

I think the English sides would also get to exploit the passion of the Scottish - English rivalry. Many teams in EFL League One and EFL League Two have not played in Europe for decades or not at all. So they would get the chance to play against sides in a competitive trophy that they have not played before. They would have the chance to travel to beautiful landscapes and towns and cities in Scotland and Wales.

And it would cost relatively little for EFL sides to take part in this trophy. It would not be too much of a challenge for EFL sides to even travel to Northern Scotland. And every EFL side is capable of travelling to Welsh soccer clubs.

But in short this would be a fun trophy for English and Scottish sides to test themselves against.

For the Welsh sides this trophy would be off the map transformational. It would be amazing for clubs like The New Saints and Connah's Quay Nomads to play against EFL sides in a competitive trophy. The Welsh love English football. And any trip from any EFL side would be massive for any Welsh Cymru Premier side.

Some would argue Welsh sides would find travel tough. But they would make so much money and status from playing Scottish Premiership and EFL sides that it would counter the cost. It would be transformational for the Welsh sides. It could take them to the next level. It would be massive for Welsh sides.

This trophy could have great games like Aberdeen v Sunderland, The New Saints v Shrewsbury Town, Dundee United v Aberystwyth, Ross County v Tranmere Rovers,

Dundee v Carlisle United, Accrington Stanley v Hibernian, Heart of Midlothian v Fleetwood Town, Doncaster Rovers v St Mirren, St Johnstone v Sheffield Wednesday.

Even if English Premier League Academy sides still played in the trophy. Many academy sides would be massive draws for all Scottish Premiership sides other than maybe Celtic or Rangers. Celtic and Rangers get to often play in the group stages of European trophies, so they would not be so impressed with playing academy sides.

But I believe that the academy sides of teams like Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Newcastle United, Everton, Aston Villa and other big English sides with academies would be massive draws, for all Scottish sides other than Celtic or Rangers.

I really think most Scottish Premiership teams would pack out their ground for even the academy side of Man Utd, Man City and Liverpool.

I think it would be fantastic to play cross border trophies with the English as on top of domestic and European football.

The Scottish Premiership sides who do not qualify for Europe, would benefit from playing in the English Football League Trophy.

I would be happy for Irish sides to play in the EFL Trophy. But I accept that it is difficult for even many full time sides to travel to Ireland.

Enter Cymru Premier Sides in English FA Trophy

Enter Cymru Premier Sides in English FA Trophy

I think that the English should invite all Welsh / Cymru Premier sides and selected Southern Scottish sides from the Scottish Championship into the English non-league trophy known as the FA  Trophy.

I think this would add to the history of the trophy. It would really help Welsh soccer. As it would allow top Welsh / Cymru Premier sides to play top non-league English sides. Welsh league sides would be fun for non-league English sides to travel too. It would improve the quality of teams playing in the trophy.

It would improve the scope of the trophy. It would help Welsh sides play top quality historic sides.

Travel would not be too difficult. As all of Wales is reasonably close to most parts of England. Plus the early rounds could be regionalised.

The Scottish were allowed by UEFA to have Welsh, Irish and English sides in the Scottish Challenge Cup. So UEFA should be OK with this idea.

It would cost the English little. But it would really help Welsh soccer. It would be a massive helping hand to Welsh soccer, with little expense put forward to help Welsh soccer.

Imagine games like The New Saints v FC United of Manchester, Stockport County v Cefn Druids, Caernarfon v Gateshead, Aberystwyth v Southend United, Newtown FC v Kidderminster Harriers. Or from Scotland Queen of the South could take part. They could travel to play Dover Athletic.

These games would not much more difficult for English non-league sides than Yeovil Town travelling to Gateshead.

Plus early rounds could regionalized so that Welsh sides play sides from near the Welsh border.

It would also allow English non-league sides to play against teams that play in Europe in competitive matches.

It could allow Welsh sides to get play bigger sides with big stadiums.

While the English sides could get cross border games to visit beautiful places, and have a version of European football.

The FA Trophy has already been won by Welsh sides, so it would not be like this would be giving away a trophy that had never gone out of England.

My idea would be all Welsh / Cymru Premier sides would be invited into the trophy.

It would be a relatively easy gesture from England to do something that would massively help Welsh Cymru Premier soccer.

For many years sides from all over Wales played in the English non-league system such as Colwyn Bay, Bangor City, Caernarfon and Rhyl. So if it was possible for them to play entire seasons in the non-league system of England. So then why not in a straight knockout trophy, of a few games a season?
