Northern European Premier Super League Proposal

My Northern European Premier Super League Proposal.

A football / soccer idea.

There are ideas to have an Atlantic League of soccer with sides from Scotland, Ireland, Denmark, Norway and Sweden.

I think this would be a good idea.

But here is an idea of mine.

How about a Northern European Premier Super League of teams from the smaller Northern European nations?

Teams from countries such as Scotland, the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Denmark, Sweden, Iceland, Finland, Wales, Poland, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia. The Faroe Islands, Luxembourg.

Two conferences of 20 with a play-off.

My idea would be two conferences of 20. The top 4 teams in each conference, play a play off at the end of the season. A single leg knockout trophy to decide the champion.

The positions in the conferences decide European placements.

For instance the highest placed teams from each country, get their European placements for their nation.

But the actual champion of the league is decided by the playoffs.

For instance if the highest placed Scottish side finished 3rd in one of the conferences they would get Scotland’s Champions League placement.

The domestic cups would continue with the teams in the Northern European Premier Super League playing teams from their own countries.

Promotion and Relegation

My main problem with European Leagues

My problem is when they are only open to the big countries, and are closed shops.

So my idea is the bottom two teams in each conference would be relegated.

The promotion to this league would be decided by a play off trophy between the champions and runners up of all the domestic national leagues that try to enter teams into the Northern European Premier Super League.

So for instance the remaining Scottish League would promote teams into the league via a play off, with teams from other countries.

This way qualification and relegation from the league would be open.

I would have teams from Scotland, the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Denmark, Sweden, Iceland, Finland, Wales, Poland, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia.

Where would the teams come from?

The forty teams could come from;

6 from Scotland.

6 From Poland.

2 From the Republic of Ireland.

1 from Northern Ireland.

1 from Lithuania.

1 from Latvia.

1 from Estonia.

1 from Finland.

1 from Iceland.

6 from Sweden.

6 from Norway.

6 from Denmark.

2 from Wales.

I think this league would do really well.

Also if successful then teams from France, Belgium, and the Netherlands might want to take part.

And here is an even more controversial idea,

How about two teams being invited in from North America? On the east cost of the USA, or Canada.

This would help soccer develop in the USA and Canada. I would love a team from New York to take part.

Imagine games like Aberdeen v New York, Glasgow Celtic v AIK, IFK V Glasgow Rangers, Brondby v Hibernian, Heart of Midlothian v Malmo, and Copenhagen v Dundee United.
