In a major blow for Italian football, Italy have been defeated by Bosnia-Herzegovina on penalties, in a FIFA World Cup Qualifying European Play-offs Final. Before the penalties, Italy drew 1-1 with Bosnia-Herzegovina. Then the game went to penalties, which Bosnia-Herzegovina won 4-1.

The result means Bosnia-Herzegovina qualify for the 2026 World Cup. While Italy are knocked out.
